About the trek
With the trek altitude of 10800 ft, the Kareri Lake one of the most stunning Lakes in Himachal Pradesh. With the melting snow of the Dhauladhar Range as the source of water, this picturesque lake and the terrains that leads to it, attracts trekking lovers from different corners of the world.
While the Dhauladhar Range adds to the charismatic appeal of this lake, the fact that it remains frozen during early December to March/April, serves as the main attraction of this trek. This trek originates from upper Dharamshala and takes the participants through lush forests, narrow terrains, scenic meadows and much more.
Day 1. We will start from Mcleodganj in cab for some distance and then an easy trek to reach Kareri Village for overnight stay in Camp. We can enjoy the beauty of this village and also get acclimatized before proceeding for higher camps in next two days.
Day 2. This day we will move to the destination camp for this trek which is at a height of 10856ft. This has some steep accent and might take between 5 to 7 hours. The walk takes you through pristine Oak, Pine and Rhododendron forests, along the Liund river to Liyoti. The trail goes along the river which has to be crossed a number of times over some improvised bridges and boulders.
Upon reaching the lakeside, enjoy the stunning beauty of the azure waters and the panoramic views of Dhauladhar and other nearby mountain ranges.
